Our Community

As a locally owned and operated company, Enable is inherently linked to the Christchurch and Canterbury community, and committed to making a positive contribution to this community.

Schools

Enable has built the largest and fastest growing schools network in New Zealand. Many Christchurch schools are already enjoying our ultra-fast broadband, and in the future all schools will be connected. Already the performance and affordability of fibre is allowing schools of all sizes to use IT to support and enhance the way our children are learning.

Enable is a founding partner in the Greater Christchurch Schools Network Trust, which is supporting schools to develop IT in the learning programme.

Safety

Enable has partnered with the NZ Police and Christchurch City Council by providing fibre to cameras around the city to allow Police to monitor situations in real time…keeping our community safer.

Our fibre is also being used for traffic surveillance and traffic light management and control.

Community Facilities

Most of our Council libraries, service centres, and recreation centres are interconnected using Enable fibre. This is improving the quality of services that can be offered to our community. Soon we will be connecting Rangiora, Lincoln, Rolleston, Prebbleton, Kaiapoi and Woodend to bring our communities closer together.

Health Sector

For a number of years now, Enable has been focused on providing the bandwidth and affordability needed to improve the way health services are delivered and how information is communicated within the sector.

Hospitals and major health providers are already connected and now the focus is moving to connect doctors' surgeries, pharmacies and other health providers using affordable, ultra-fast broadband.

Sponsorships

We are proud to support many worthy organisations in the community by providing them with opportunity to realise the benefits of fibre services for their organisations.

We provide a free fibre connection to the offices of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and to Youthline’s Central South Island office, that provides counselling and support services to youth across Christchurch and the West Coast.

In the wake of the Christchurch earthquakes, we also provided a free fibre connection to Christchurch and Canterbury Tourism – to ensure this important organisation, in planning for the recovery of Christchurch, could be up and running quickly in temporary offices.

Most recently, Enable has partnered with Trade Me, FX Networks and The Press to provide free wireless internet access for all visitors to the Cashel Mall Re:Start pop-up shopping precinct. Enabling visitors to enjoy free connectivity in this important retail area demonstrates our commitment to the recovery of the Christchurch community and businesses.
