Fibre Optic communication uses lasers and optical fibres to transmit vast amounts of information at the speed of light. Modern fibre can easily carry information for 10 to 50km, whereas copper cable technology can be limited to distances of around 500 metres. It is generally accepted that the information carrying capacity of fibre is virtually unlimited.

Connection speed available on Enable’s fibre network (today) is up to 10Gbps which is 500-1000 times faster than typical copper broadband download speed, and reliability is significantly improved.
