What We Do

Transforming IT and communications in Christchurch

Enable Networks builds and operates Christchurch’s newest and fastest optical fibre network. We have chosen one of the most advanced, flexible and scaleable fibre systems in the world, which we install under the streets of Christchurch. Enable Networks connections are available to any company or community organisation, and to service providers who deliver their IT and communications services to their customers over the fibre.

While fibre to the home is not currently available from Enable Networks, we are considering the role we can play in delivering this technology in the future.

what-we-do

The Enable Networks vision

We will provide the fastest, most innovative, business and community Enabling network that Christchurch has ever experienced.

How we operate

The key focus of Enable Networks is to provide an ‘open access’ fibre network that all companies can purchase or use on similar terms. We ensure the network is designed to provide the highest level of interoperability with other networks.

We have selected a group of partner organisations who we know have the capability to deliver the applications that end users require, including Internet, IP Voice/calling, data storage and hosting, national networking and IT services. Equally we work with any IT Integrator or communications company to deliver their services to customers over the high speed Enable Networks fibre and Ethernet.

To construct our network, we outsource to the best local contractors and specialists available, working to our design and specifications. This ensures we have the scaleable resources we need to meet demand, while supporting growth and innovation in other businesses in Christchurch.
